Update On New Website

Just a short update, I've finally got the webhosting worked out and I think I've identified the software that will work the best. Hopefully I will have the website up and ready to go by the end of the month ... In the mean time check out my etsy store and a couple of new styles that I've just introduced.

I was able to check out the ebook from my library, which is a good thing as it is a very small book in both size and content.  The book measures 3” x 3.7” and the epub version that that I read is 17 pages but the printed version is 80, so I’m guessing that it takes several print pages to equal one ebook page.

 

I did enjoy reading and looking through this book even though it took about 10min to read the entire book as each page is very brief and the book contains home-spun, no-nonsense wisdom and a few pictures.

Even though I found the book pleasant to read, I felt some of the wording chunky and some sentences poorly formed.

This Month has been very busy one, very satisfying too!

 

My etsy sells have been exceptionally good and I’m now trying to restock so there will be plenty to choice from for the rest of the winter.  I’ve also received an order for 50 custom aprons that I need to start on right after Christmas!!!!   

I’ve been a tiny bit disappointed in the lack of sells for my Holiday aprons, so I won’t pre-make them any longer but will make them on a custom order bases as long as my fabric stash holds out.  Watch for future information on how to order them.   I may offer a few on etsy but not more than 1 or 2 I think. 2014 styles - I have a few new styles planned for this coming year.  They are only in the sketch stage at this time, but hopefully I will be starting work on the patterns soon. As soon as I get a sample made of each one, I will post a picture here.  

 

My latest new style that I posted about here, with no ties and a crossed strap back, has been wildly popular in both sizes. I may add a smaller Miss size soon, but I still need to make that pattern.

What has been going on?

Hi everyone, well I am no longer working outside of the home. I suspect I will eventually get a part time job though, but in the meantime I am finally able to devote most of my energies to my apron business. As a result I've introduced a few new styles and will be working on a few more that I've had ideas about. One of the most exciting ones that I would like to tell you about is my New Maternity apron, It is before, during and after, nice and roomy and comfortable, with a short half back.


I've also reactived what was really my first Etsy store. CottageCreations, where I sell vintage stuff, mostly linens and also I upcycle damaged vintage linens into new and fresh useful items. Lately, I've been on a sustainable kick so making products to help people out in living a more sustainable life. My grocery bags have been very popular and over time I will be offering more products.



I always have a ton of useable scraps left over from my aprons and I hate just throwing them out so I've been saving them and finally came up with a project that will use them up, bowl and baking pan covers!!!! I use a set of the baking pan covers all of the time and they really work well in keeping my baked goods fresh for days. Soooo much easier then plastic wrap or tin foil. Love them!!!

Spring 2011 new apron styles ….

Yes I am thinking about spring apron styles, though you wont have to wait until spring for me to release new aprons in these styles … of course I’m months behind the fashion industry but I’ve been busy launching my new aprons for Plus Size Women business and have been pleasantly surprised at how well they have been doing. I have met so many wonderful ladies that have had great things to say in regards to finally finding attractive aprons that actually fit their plus size frames.

For the last month I have been working on an apron pattern from this pattern which is a 1970’s version of a 1920’s style, no ties in the back. This pattern calls for buttons on the shoulder tabs, but I have been working on variations that will allow for some flexibility in fit and ease of getting in and out. I am on my 3rd version of it and the day that I finished it, I put it on to see how the fit was and I didn’t take it off until bed time … I absolutely love this apron for it’s comfort. One of the modifications that I made was to add pockets, I added 1 on each side, nice big roomy ones … this is my all time favorite for serious work.






I’ve completed the pattern for an apron that is very similar to this one … there are shoulder straps that go down to the waist band in the back. To make it adjustable to fit a wider range of women, I am adding D rings at the waist so that the straps will fit through them. Once you’ve adjusted it to fit you, it’s very easy on and off and so comfortable …


I am planning on making the pattern for the red and white check in this next picture …



I do have some really fun styles in the work for Valentines and some great fabrics already in stock that I’m anxious to get started on, look for them starting in January …

and I have some thoughts for garden aprons, nice sturdy and functional aprons that you can wear while working in your gardens...

Don’t Mix Plaids with Polka dots …. Not!

Did you hear that when you were a child and starting to pick out your own clothes? I did and for many years I followed that fashion rule. It was a struggle but I finally shed those outdated fashion do’s and don’ts and have found that I love mixing prints of all kinds.

My favorite part of sewing projects is to see how many prints that I can mix together and still haqve a cohesive and coordinated look.
