General Musings!

First, my business has really taken off, that is when etsy stops messing with their site long enough so that people can find me.  Sales in August were  fantastic, than Sept 10th hit and etsy started making changes to the site and my sales died out for 2 weeks.  That could have been a natural cycle but I prefer blaming etsy, lol ....

If business keeps up this way and it should actually increase with the holidays, I probably wont be able to visit here often to post new and interesting things.    If you leave comments, I will be notified and I can reply if necessary.  If I am not able to come for a visit or post much, just know that I am around still and working hard on my aprons.

One of my apron styles isn't selling well, I am about ready to list more of them  and will try to continue listing new ones.

or Buy this apron now for $38.00 (Plus Size Apron Smock, Tan Calico with tiny Blue flowers - sized for 3X to 4X)

Frequently, I will put one of these on in the morning and wear it all day unless I am going to run errands or company arrives.  It is great because it is short enough not to interfere with any of my activities and it is perfect to keep cooking mishaps, food spills, dirt and dust from cleaning or dish water splatters from my clothes. So if I have to leave or someone drops in, I don't have to check my clothes over to see if they are clean enough to be seen in, I can just whisk off the apron and be confident that I am presentable.   Granted it isn't sexy but it isn't meant to be the type of apron that you are seen in, but it is meant to be a work horse apron. I also think it would be fantastic apron for the wheel chair bound person as it is only hip length.

It comes in all 3 sizes that I offer  M/L, XL/2X and 3X/4X

Let me know if you have any thoughts on why it isn't selling.  TIA

It is time for me to get back to my sewing or listing ... Hope you all are enjoying the beautiful Fall weather or Spring for those of you down under ;)  ....   Anita

Conversion Chart for Women's Sizes around the world

Occasionally I've had someone ask me how their country's sizes related to my posted sizes and I haven't really been able to help them without doing some searches.  I recently found various sites that I was able to use to put together this chart.  I honestly do not know how reliable it is so if you know, please leave a comment to let us know.

New Styles!

I've been in a creative mood lately and so have been working on a few new designs of aprons, actually too many.  The first one is completed and as of today I've got a few listed, more will be added soon.  But of course I'm still designing more new aprons as ideas keep popping into my head ....

Here is a new cobbler apron design, this one is for the XL-2X size range. I've completed the pattern for the 3x-5x size, but haven't made the sample yet.   At this time I'm not planning on creating the smaller size pattern, but if I get enough requests for it, I will.

This one is based on a vintage 50's design, that I modified slightly as I've found that side ties or tabs aren't very well received and I thought the pocket should extend all of the way across the front.  Here is the original pattern cover.

No Tie All Day apron is now available in a smaller size!

In Early December '13 I introduced this style in both plus sizes and it was an immediate Big hit so I decide to offer it in Miss size as well.  This apron is Sized for M/L but may work out for a small too.

These are all made from heavy cotton fabric and there are a few more listed in my Etsy shop.  As soon as I can I will start offering this style in lighter weight cotton too.

Cobbler Apron now available for smaller sizes!!!!

This past holiday season I had a lot of requests for my popular 50's plus size cobbler apron to be offered in a smaller size. Well I was so busy at the time that I couldn't whip out the pattern and sample but now it is completed!!!!   It's designed to be a OSFA Miss, should work for S/M/L full figured or not!

As of right now I only have these two completed but I do have a few more cut out and will get them added as soon as possible.  The style catalog has been updated with the new size and measurements.

Book Review: Apronisms

Book Review
Apronisms: Pocket Wisdom for Every Day by Ellyn Anne Geisel

Hardcover: 80 pagesPublisher: Andrews McMeel Publishing; Min edition (February 1, 2008) Language: English ISBN-10: 0740771248 ISBN-13: 978-0740771248 Product Dimensions: 0.4 x 3 x 3.7 inches

I was able to check out the ebook from my library, which is a good thing as it is a very small book in both size and content.  The book measures 3” x 3.7” and the epub version that that I read is 17 pages but the printed version is 80, so I’m guessing that it takes several print pages to equal one ebook page.

I did enjoy reading and looking through this book even though it took about 10min to read the entire book as each page is very brief and the book contains home-spun, no-nonsense wisdom and a few pictures.

Change the dish towel.
Hang a fresh towel and your kitchen will look neater and cleaner, even when it isn’t.  Note the satisfaction you feel when draping an ironed towel over the oven door.  Vintage tea towels.  Embroidered beauties.  Simple Renewel.”

Be a spendthrift when it comes to kindness and a miser with criticism.”

You can never have too many aprons ….. Or too many memories.

“When company’s on the doorstep, it’s amazing how much dusting an apron can accomplish in a matter of seconds.”

Even though I found the book pleasant to read, I felt some of the wording chunky and some sentences poorly formed.
